They relate the teachings of Christ to the twentieth century, in the light of the latest archaeological, historical, and linguistic research. Professor Nineham, the General Editor of the Pelican Gospel Commentaries, is a distinguished Bible theologian, and Professor Divinity in the University of London. The Gospel on which he writes is generally acknowledged as the one which comes nearest to the events described.Although it is the least cultured and grammatical of the four, St. Mark's talent for writing narrative is indisputable. His Gospel, written around the themes of the Church's preaching, evinces his desire to witness to Christ as the Messiah'. |
