The plates are surrounded by different borders by C. Malapeau, printed in darkbrown, all with the mention "Édité par le Charivari". Also with 200 woodengravings in text. - Second edition, as scarce as the first edition of 1839. Interesting and scharming, however: 1) Many textleaves and almost all the plates with serious but small brown spots (1 plate with larger spot). 2) Unfortunately among the plates, 25 bound in oblong position have very short lower margins (cut to the text; 1 plate with loss of the name of the editor) . |
