It was first published with Cumberland's 'Original Tales'in 1810 but was almost totally ignored. This is its third printing and second publication....About 1800 Cumberland wrote a sequel to 'The Captive' Part 1, subtitled 'The Reformed'... This manuscript has only recently been discovered and is here printed for the first time.... It is a work of considerable interest. (from the Preface). |
