| Meer info | - Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), one of the most eminent painters of the 20th century, was a passionate collector. In his cabinet of curiosities, one could find artistic and natural objects: Greek vases, ancient fragments, Byzantine, Asian, Indian and African valuables, engravings, devotional objects, minerals, shells, jewellery, dried plants and fossils. They served Kokoschka as a source of inspiration and so some of them turn up again in his paintings, watercolours, drawings and lithographs. The publication reconstructs and documents Kokoschka's "Wunderkammer" and tries to stress the connection between his collected objects and his artistic and literary works. |
