Notes on the Physical Geography of the Atlantic Ocean By W. H. Rosser CONDITION The cloth shows significant wear, with fraying at the edges and fading of the spine. Hinges are cracked front and back, the binding remains intact. Interior pages are complete and clean. A well-used navigational volume with classic 19th-century maritime design. PROVENANCE This 1884 edition of The Atlantic Pilot was acquired and inscribed by A. V. Nyman aboard the steamship Gotland the same year of publication. A second inscription dated 1887, written in the same hand, records the name of I. Bergman Olss, referring to Johan Bergman Olsson—a well-known Swedish shipowner and industrialist active in timber exports and maritime trade. A custom oval stamp bearing both names and the town “Nordmaling” indicates the book belonged to a formal navigational or shipping enterprise based in northern Sweden |
