Meer info ?H. Hagendahl is known through his former publications as a recognised expert in his field of research. Now, in only 163 pages, he gives us a valuable survey, supplemented by notes recording recent research. The book consists of two main parts: (I) the pre-Constantinian period (including Lactantius); and (II) the post-Constantinian period. In the first part, the material is arranged according to authors; in the second part, the disposition follows thematic patterns (?). The book, which is written in very clear and precise German, is a survey of the important facts and trends in Christian Latin literature from Tertullian to Cassiodorus, with special regard to the influence of the Latin classics. Copious notes, a rich bibliography, and an index nominal et serum provide a starting point for further studies, even for problems of detail. (?) The work unobtrusively displays the great range of H.?s own experience and research. (?) We must be grateful to the author and to Göteborg University for having made accessible this useful book.?
