| Meer info | This large illustrated volume presents an extensive visual archive of theatre posters produced over approximately two centuries for performances of the plays of William Shakespeare. The publication documents how graphic designers illustrators and visual artists from numerous cultural contexts translated the dramatic themes characters and narratives of the plays into striking visual communication intended for theatre audiences. Through the chronological and stylistic diversity of the collected material the book demonstrates the evolution of graphic design techniques theatrical promotion and visual interpretation within global theatre culture. The atlas-like compilation also functions as a study of visual rhetoric in performance advertising showing how imagery symbolism and typography were used to reinterpret canonical drama in different artistic traditions and historical contexts. Mirko Ilic is an internationally recognised graphic designer illustrator and educator known for his work in editorial illustration branding and poster design. Born in the former Yugoslavia and later active in the United States he has contributed significantly to contemporary graphic design culture and has curated several publications documenting the history of design and visual communication. Steven Heller is an American design historian author and educator who has written extensively about graphic design illustration typography and visual culture and has taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Together they have collaborated on multiple publications exploring the global history and development of graphic design and visual media. |
