Uwe Ommer conceived the project as an inversion of the conventional photographic gaze, allowing subjects to control their own representation. Some participants used mirrors, some worked directly with the camera, and others collaborated with Ommer only for technical assistance. The resulting work explores self-image, eroticism, authorship, and female agency through a body of images that moves between spontaneity, performance, and staged visual experimentation. The volume is structured as a large-format photographic monograph composed primarily of self-generated nude and semi-nude portraiture.
