| Meer info | Hilderic Friend (1852-1940), an English Wesleyan minister and naturalist, wrote in his introduction: "Here we are not concerned with the cultivation of plants and flowers but their history and names, with the curious uses to which they have been applied, and the legends which cluster around them--in fact, with anything that legend, poetry, fancy, or imagination can supply of interest in connection therewith". Treating herbs, flowers and some trees, topics include for example: The Fairy Garland, From Pixy to Puck, The Virgin’s Bower, Traditions about Flowers, Curious Beliefs of Herbalists, Rustic Flower Names, Witches and their Flower Lore, and others. With fine b&w plant illustrations, bibliography, introduction, index and notes. Condition: good – text/illustrations clean and unmarred - ex-library stickers on front and spine – small pencil/marker notation top corner cover leaves – light scuff marks front/back, shelf wear corners/edges – binding vol. The Horn Collection bestaat uit 200 gespecialiseerde vogel- en natuurboeken die deel uitmaakten van de privécollectie van de internationaal geprezen (wijlen) Nederlandse vogelpreparateur Ewold Horn. Voor al uw vragen en/of voor het vrijblijvend aanvragen van een volledige inventaris met alle vogel- en natuurboeken die nog te koop zijn (500+), kunt u contact opnemen met Erna Horn op ernahorn@hotmail.co.uk.
* Ewold signeerde zelf bijna al zijn boeken, en dit feit wordt als zodanig dan ook niet nog extra vermeld in de beschrijving.
**Verzendopties worden afgestemd aan de hand van actuele tarieven. Persoonlijke afhaling/bezorging kan besproken worden.
