| Meer info | The Sunbirds of Southern Africa is a comprehensive monograph by South African ornithologist Cuthbert John Skead (1912-2006). Introducing each of the four bird families with a comprehensive general review; followed by detailed notes on biology and taxonomy for each species. Profusely and beautifully illustrated with 10 colour plates, 12 monochrome plates, 40 line drawings, 91 b&w photographs, and 25 distribution maps. A unique feature is the 45 rpm (7-inch) gramophone disk affixed at the rear pastedown; giving the characteristic calls of most of the bird species covered by the text. Made from field recordings, they offer an invaluable tool for study purposes. Colour illustrations by John Perry. Condition: 7-inch record - pristine, no indication ever having been removed from the sleeve : Book - internal near perfect with clean text and illustrations; a few light colour spots on cover pages; paper a little aged in colour - some external rub marks top/bottom edge : Dustjacket - light shelf wear edges, some spot marks front/more on the back Format: 25x19.5 cm. * Ewold signeerde zelf bijna al zijn boeken, en dit feit wordt als zodanig dan ook niet nog extra vermeld in de beschrijving.
