Lavishly illustrated with 75 full-page colour plates (incl. a frontispiece), each of those rare bird species breeding in the Southern African Sub-Region (south of 10° latitude), is masterly portrayed in detail as to form and colouration, showing its natural habitat. Comprehensive text and 2-colour distribution maps for each species support the illustrations. The Horn Collection bestaat uit 200 gespecialiseerde vogel- en natuurboeken die deel uitmaakten van de privécollectie van de internationaal geprezen (wijlen) Nederlandse vogelpreparateur Ewold Horn. * Ewold signeerde zelf bijna al zijn boeken, en dit feit wordt als zodanig dan ook niet nog extra vermeld in de beschrijving.
