| Meer info | Solly Zuckerman (1904-1993), British government advisor, anatomist, zoologist, and science consultant, maintained a passionate scientific interest in the apes and monkeys throughout his life. Being a pioneer in the study of primate behaviour, he did much to promote interest in apes and monkeys. His book, The Social Life of Monkeys and Apes (1932) for example, is now considered a standard work. In The Ape in Myth & Art Zuckerman presents his passion with a well-researched and critically analysed selection of creative works that include apes and monkeys. Discussing with flair and much enthusiasm a great variety of such art forms from prehistoric time through to the ancient world, Greece and Rome, the Dark Ages, and into the modern age. Condition book: very fine throughout with clear text and plates, bar pages 60/61 that show light yellow spots across the pages.
