This collection of nine small, independant works of Averroes has not previously been available to those who do not read Hebrew. Only two of these works are extant in the original Arabic, and none of these works was translated into Latin. The treatises cover a wide range of scientific and philosophical problems. All are concerned with some aspect of mediaeval physics (the science of matter, motion, and time), and most have a specific focus in a passage (or passages) from Aristotle's Physics. Writing in the form of independant treatises enabled Averroes to treat problems of interest to him at greater length and in more detail than commentary form permitted.
