In a struggle of military might and engineering wile, the Germans attempted to destroy it while the Americans sought to preserve and repair it. ABOUT THE AUTHOR -- Guckelhorn is a military historian and archivist whose research into the Bridge of Remagen began in 1994. He conducts an annual "military-historical excursion" of the Remagen site. He is the author of several WWII-related books on military history, (most notably V2 Gefrorene Blitze) which have not yet been translated into English. |
